How I Rebuilt a 5,000-Page
Business Online Web Site in Two Days

By Jess Guim

There were two serious reasons why I transferred my photography hobby web site from one web hosting provider to another. First, it was vandalized by a hacker from another country, which means the provider’s servers were not secured. Second, it was too expensive to maintain it at $39.95 per month, when I could have it in another provider at $5.95 per month with more space for my web pages. Currently, this web site provider offers $3.95/month with unlimited disk space and unlimited data transfer.

At first, I was hesitant to move the site to another provider since my business online site had been built by me little by little since 1999. I’m just a hobbyist in photography, and a basic web designer doing these things on my spare times. So, what I did first was to download all the folders and files from my web site to my hard drive. I downloaded them in one folder, so that all the folders and files will not be mixed-up with the other folders and files in my c: drive. Once I finished downloading all the folders and files, I made copy of them in a CD. This procedure will make my files backed-up safely in a CD even if my computer crashes.

How to Make Your Business Online Web Site Content-Rich and Search Engine Optimized (SEO) at the Speed of Lightning

By Jess Guim

Search engine optimization (SEO) strategies are collection of strategies used in designing and maintaining a business online web site, so that it comes out on the first pages of search results of Google, Yahoo, and MSN whenkey terms related to the pages or site are searched by an Internet user. Starting an online business doesn't have to be a challenge, especially when you're equipped with the right knowledge, tools, and business planning strategy. Choosing a niche market is the first step towards building your online empire, but there are many other important factors to consider before getting started. Are you ready for a successful online business? Here are some key items to consider so you are prepared with the right information before jumping in:

Mapping Out Your Small Business Ideas

When you're considering different types of small business ideas, mapping out each one individually can help you decide which ones will be most profitable-and which ideas just won't work for the long-term. Mapping out your small business ideas can help you outline the benefits and challenges of each, and help you make a better decision. (More)

Business Advertising and Branding: What Online Tools Are Effective?

Marketing has always been an essential element of business - both back in the day when brick and mortar stores and mail order businesses were the only options and now that the internet has become so central to so many people's lives. Business advertising - along with many businesses as well - have gone online and become even more competitive as business owners learn more about the value of text links, banner ads and other ways of getting their message out to the world.

Online advertising, however, is not limited to text links and banner ads: there are other tools that many businesses have put to work as well. For example, a number of businesses have discovered that blogging allows them to create additional text links back to their websites and to connect a more personal voice and tone with their message, reminding readers that behind every business there are people who recognize the customers' needs and have developed products and services to meet those needs.

Business planning is an important factor when you are launching your small business startup or online business, and you need to make sure you have documented your ideas thoroughly and objectively for each area. From financial projections to summaries and overviews, an effective business plan will help you and potential investors determine how valuable the business idea truly is.

Most people make the mistake of thinking they don't need a business plan for an online business or startup; they think they can just launch first, and then put the pieces together as they move ahead. However, this can be a costly strategy and puts you at risk for some big mistakes. Business planning will help you organize your goals and keep you on track towards success. Here are some basic do's and don'ts for business planning:

Email Marketing Formula, The Beginning - Get Your Emails Read
Copyright © 2008 Kimberly Clay

Is your email marketing campaign not as effective as you'd like?

Here's what I do for about 90 percent of the email messages I receive: Delete, Delete, Delete... Some days it's so bad, I think my finger's going to get jammed from pressing the "Delete" button so much.

The email messages get deleted for various reasons. Since I now send email marketing messages myself, I try to pay closer attention to emails I receive but don't read, as well as those I do read. I do this in an attempt to discern what compels me to open and read one message versus deleting another either without opening it, or very soon thereafter. The result boils down to this:

The Headline Is Important! The Headline Is Important! The Headline Is Important! (More)

Profitable Ads - How To Write Ads That Pull
Copyright © 2008 Elizabeth Adams

In today's internet environment, ads that do not immediately "grab" a surfer's attention will receive "the click of death" as the visitor leaves your ad. An ad on the Web will often receive only a glance. In that split second, a potential prospect has to be enticed into giving the ad a second, deeper look. Here are some basic guidelines for writing profitable ads that pull.

A successful internet ad consists of three main components:

  • compelling headline

  • benefits list

  • call to action

  • THE HEADLINE

The function of an ad headline is to pull your visitors deeper into the page. If visitors can be enticed into looking deeper into the page, other page elements, such as a benefits list, can guide them toward the action you want them to take. (More)

When it comes to writing articles to promote your online business, it's important to consider more than just your marketing goals: it's essential that you also focus on writing articles that people will want to read. In other words, you don't just want to use words; and you don't want to market and sell your business directly. Instead, you want to make an effort to be engaging and influential(more...)

    Short Story:
    The Sparrow
    by Jess Guim

Somewhere in the Philippines... during the reign of Marcos dictatorship...

"Calling H1636!... Calling H1636!... This is HQ, ...Over!" sounded the built-in radio on the pilot's helmet of a Huey helicopter flying over the site of a gun battle. The call came from the radio room of Bayani Provincial Military Camp.
